Welcome to Care2.com's Race to Stop Global Warming! The Race is a quick, easy way to help stop global warming with a simple point and click.
The race is 100% free to you!
What you need to do: Click on the "Offset 1 Pound of Carbon" button located at http://stopglobalwarming.care2.com up to once per day. Each click generates a donation to offset one pound of carbon dioxide - a main greenhouse gas - paid by Care2 and other sponsors. Carbon and other greenhouse gases released into the air by power plants and cars contribute to global warming. The Race to Stop Global Warming helps you take a small step every day to help offset your impact. Care2 offers this free service as part of our mission to make it easy get involved and make a difference.
How to help even more:
- Get your friends to help: When you invite friends to join the Race, you'll get credit for their participation. After all, if it wasn't for you, they wouldn't be offsetting their carbon emissions! You'll get credit for the friends they invite, and their friends, and their friends. We'll chart everyone's progress so you can see your impact. One person can really make a difference!
- Download the "Carbon Neutral" Care2 Toolbar: Using your computer burns energy, and for most of us that means adding to global warming. Every day you use the Care2 toolbar, we'll make a donation to save 25 square feet of Amazonian Rainforest to recapture that carbon dioxide and reduce global warming gases. You can think of it as the Carbon Neutral Toolbar.
- Take advantage of special offers: Your clicks and purchases help pay for maintaining the Race to Stop Global Warming. Please support those who are paying for your donations!
- Sign the petitions advertised in the Race: These petitions help different social causes, often relating to endangered wildlife and energy conservation that helps to slow global warming.
- Register for the race: Care2 will make a donation to double your contribution on your first click.
(Note: While we appreciate some people's efforts to help more by using "creative marketing" ideas, please do not send unsolicited invitations to people you do not know. Please do not sign up for multiple accounts. To preserve the integrity of the Race, we will be forced to terminate accounts that are abusing this trust.)
How the offset works: Contributions are funded by sponsors who have agreed to pay to be featured on the Race. If during a period there are no paying sponsors, Care2 has guaranteed to make a donation of at least $1.70 for every 1000 clicks on the Race to offset racers' greenhouse gas emissions. No matter what, every time you click, (up to once per day) you will be offsetting one pound of CO2.
